At Heywood Baptist Church, we are a family of ordinary people who have come to know God's love through Jesus Christ. We want to share that love in our friendship, concern, service and prayers. Welcome to our website. We look forward to meeting you in person at any of our meetings.

Our Sunday service is open to all. It is usually led by one of our ministers or a member of the congregation. We think you'll enjoy our services - come and see for yourself!

Sunday morning services are our time our worship and fellowship as the community of believers. We have communion once a month. Normally there is a cup of tea or coffee in the lounge after services. A crêche is available and G-Factor runs for children and young people. In our Sunday morning services we are taking a more relaxed and informal approach during the main part of August.

Small groups are meeting every week at local venues in people's homes. A variety of study books are used, and we are looking as a church at developing different small groups to meet different needs.

Many of our normal mid - week activities have had to be put on hold while the building work has been carried out. We are upgrading the toilet facilities and will improve disabled access. After this we will inevitably need redecoration as quite a number of rooms have been altered to make this possible. Our Christmas services will not be affected.

There are normally many other activities happening in the week which you might like to get involved in - from toddlers to youth cell, Oasis lunch club (for older people) to Citizens' Advice sessions -which can be booked ahead- and more! Look in HBC's Calendar for examples.

Xtreme, our Mid-week event for 11 to 14 yr olds, will restart in the new year. Download the Flyer for more details of the programme!

HBC News

Remember our church calendar is now online. We maintain a Google Calendar for the church. If you have a Google Calendar of your own you can add ours to show them both, if you wish.

Following our well attended ETGT (Explore Together, Grow Together) series of meetings, the church has been praying and exploring its vision for 2009.

Our senior minister James Neve has now left to join his family in Southampton. His last Sunday was the 14th December providing us a chance to say our farewells. All correspondence and emails need to be redirected to our other minister, Doreen Thornton or our minister - in - training, Ian Geere. The church now begins the task of looking for a new minister!

A new website is being developed to take over from this one. More news about that in the new year.
